Little did I realize on that November day back in 1995 when my husband Jay first walked
into Dr. Preston's office at the recommendation of a friend, what an incredible blessing he
would become to our lives.
At the time we were so naive, knowing little to nothing about hypnosis - but with his
patience of explaining the good it could do for my husband who was diagnosed with
terminal cancer, we were willing to try anything that might bring him some comfort and
relief. After just a few sessions we were sure we were experiencing a miracle as it was
amazing how he could, within just a matter of minutes, calm Jay's excruciating pain with
the power of hypnosis.
He provided Jay with tapes to listen to as well. For hours Jay would lay with his
headphones on - appreciating the peace and calmness they brought to his body and
mind.
At one point, Dr. Preston announced to us with confidence that our next visit to Mayo
Clinic would bring news that the cancer was gone from his body. Sure enough, both the
medical doctors and we were baffled when the test results revealed just that.
The cancer did eventually return and my husband did die, but I will be forever indebted to
this wonderful man who so compassionately came into our life - allowing Jay some
peace and hope that otherwise would never have been possible.
I continue to have a tremendous respect for his ongoing work and the power of hypnosis.
