Meet Dr. Preston
Michael Preston, J.D., PhD, received his doctorate degrees at Marquette University and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Preston
studied with Lewis R. Wolberg, M.D. at the New York Medical College and with William J. Bryan, Jr., J.D.,M.D.,PhD, at the American College of Medical Hypnotists and the American Institute of Hypnosis.
In 1968 Dr. Preston founded the Institute of Medical Hypnosis and has lectured at several hypnosis conventions including the Midwest Hypnosis Convention, the International Society for Investigative and Forensic Hypnosis and the National Board for Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Anesthesiology. Dr. Preston has further conducted seminars in more that 40 cities in the U.S. and Canada. In 1990 Dr. Preston has held seminars in England.
Presently affiliated with the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education, Wynnewood, Pa., National Society of Hypnotists, National Guild of Hypnotists, International Society for Investigative and Forensic Hypnosis, the National Board for Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Anesthesiology, on the Advisory Board for the American Association of Behavioral Therapists. Have written several articles for publication including "WHY HYPNOSIS WORKS", published by the American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts, Sept., 1989 issue, Vol IV, No.3. Authored the book, "Hypnosis: Medicine of the Mind".
- 1996: Received the "FOUNDER'S AWARD" from the National Board for Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Anesthesiology. This award is given to the therapist's professional commitment to actively promoting the goals and objectives of hypnosis in a national level.
- 1992: Received the "HYPNOTHERAPY EDUCATIOR AWARD" from the National Board for Hypnotherapy and Hypnotic Anesthesiology. This award is given to the therapist who advances the use of hypnosis in the treatment of mental and physical disorders.
- 1990: Received the "PEN AND QUILL" award from the American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysts. This award is given for the most informative article written defining hypnosis.
- 1986: Received the "PRESIDENT'S AWARD" from the Florida Association of Professional Hypnotists. This award is given to the person for excellence in the field of hypnotherapy education.
Instructors at the INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL HYPNOSIS have authorized several books on hypnosis and emotional behaviors. Dr Preston's article, WHY HYPNOSIS WORKS, published in the Medical Hypnoanalysis Journal, Sept.1989 issue, volume iv, No.3, has been acclaimed as a masterpiece on the function of the mind while in a state of hypnosis.
